Scope
|
This work will seek to understand how and where A-GNSS location information is available in Europe and whether harmonised approaches would be necessary or beneficial for providing accurate location information for emergency calls. It will also examine the consequences of potential harmonised A-GNSS methods for onward conveyance of location information to PSAPs. It will not examine other location gathering techniques such as Wi-Fi.

Questionnaire to mobile network operators and handset and chipset manufacturers completed in September 2015. Objective:To get insights into the possibility of introducing a harmonised approach to implementing A-GNSS technology. Next step will be to discuss with network equipment vendors to obtain a balanced view. It is likely that a workshop will then be organised as part of the next PT ES meeting (9-10 February 2016).
