Scope
|
Evaluate the technological potentials, regulatory requirements, and the possible applications or use cases of NG112. Challenges in terms of e.g., funding, supply chain for 112 emergency communications, phasing out of 2G/3G and impact on introduction of NG112 (legacy support for certain devices), accessibility and equivalence in access to emergency services (number based and number independent interpersonal communication, introducing media, roaming), characteristics of 112 emergency communications (present state and future implementation of NG112, prioritisation of calls to 112 in a packet-switched environment, limited service state (LSS), enhancing caller location information, routing to the most appropriate PSAP) are also to be recorded.

Work item approved at WG NaN#24 (7-9 June 2022).
NaN3#30 (20-21 September 2022) commenced work on the draft report and agreed on the roadmap, discussed the draft structure of the report, and a possible questionnaire to inform the report. NaN3#30 scheduled two web-meetings for 12 October and 7 December 2022 to progress the work.
NaN3 made progress on the draft report at its web meeting on 12 October 2022. NaN3 reviewed a contribution submitted to the web meeting by EENA and discussed a possible questionnaire.
NaN3 held a web meeting on 15 December 2022 and made progress on the questionnaire that will inform the report.
NaN3 held a web meeting on 18 January 2023 to progress on the questionnaire.
NaN3#31 (21-22 February 2023) continued the work on the draft report and scheduled a web
meeting for 9 March 2023 to finalise the questionnaire.
NaN3 held a web meeting on 09 March 2023 and finalised the questionnaire.
NaN3#32 (26-27 April 2023) dedicated four sessions to making progress on the draft report. NaN3#32 also took note of the preliminary responses to the questionnaire and scheduled two further web meetings for 17 May and 7 June 2023.

Progress on the draft report was made at a web meeting held on 5 September 2023 and at the 33rd full meeting of NaN3 held on 26-28 September 2023.
NaN3 made progress on the draft report at a web meeting held on 18 January 2024. Work will continue at the next full meeting scheduled for 20-21 February 2024.
