Scope
|
- Study of technical aspects of use for Space Based Solar Power applications (transferring power wirelessly from space), operating in the 2 400 – 2 483.5 MHz, 5 725–5 875 MHz and 9 925–10 075 MHz bands (space-to-Earth), and their related ground components.
- Assess coexistence and potential interference from SBSP applications (transferring power wirelessly from space) transmissions and associated unwanted emissions to in-band and adjacent-bands radiocommunication services and applications, and to passive services such as the radio astronomy in accordance with applicable ITU-R and CEPT protection criteria and with regards to receiver saturation effects.
- Study of technical aspects of the pilot beam (Earth-to-space) as an SBSP (transferring power wirelessly from space) safety mechanism, in candidate frequencies 2 400 – 2 483.5 MHz, 5 725–5 875 MHz and 9 925–10 075 MHz, duly taking into account governmental usages. Candidate pilot beam frequencies for SBSP to be identified.
As a first step, WG SE is requested to conduct technical studies. Further work, if deemed necessary, will be discussed by WG FM when these studies are completed.
