Scope

consider making the bands recently added in ERC Recommendation 70-03 available to SRD usage and eventual inclusion in the next update of the SRD decision;

start investigations on assessing the requirements for cognitive radio enabled SRDs and any potential implications in terms of SRD harmonised technical conditions , taking into account the on-going work in ETSI under mandate M/512;

re-assess, on a demand basis from stakeholders, the relevance and appropriateness of 'other usage restrictions' for the relevant SRD categories;

consider merging the existent decisions pertaining to SRDs into one encompassing decision. (e.g. RFID, UWB)

Trigger: Guidance Letter from EC

ECC#42 approved the CEPT Report 59 for publication and sending it to the EC.

ECC#44 in March 2017 approved the Addendum to the CEPT Report 59 in response to the EC Permanent Mandate on the ”Annual update of the technical annex of the Commission Decision on the technical harmonisation of radio spectrum for use by short range devices - Possibilities for a harmonisation approach for the bands 870-876 MHz and 915-921 MHz also taking into account new opportunities in the band 862-868 MHz" for publication and sending to the EC (incl. a cover letter).
WGFM#87 in February 2017, in relation, agreed to send a liaison statement to ETSI regarding the associated standardisation activities which are needed.
