Subject Analysis of feasibility of WAS/RLAN VLP as a non-prioritised application in the upper 6 GHz band
Related WI FM61_05

Scope
Detailed analysis of the possibility of introducing Very Low Power (VLP) WAS/RLAN as a non-prioritised application in 6425-7250 MHz, ensuring the protection of incumbent services and MFCN and safeguarding the long-term use of the band for MFCN as the key 6G primary band.
This includes:
  • study and evaluate possible mitigation techniques to protect MFCN, including an assessment of the efficiency of the possible sharing mechanisms;
  • avoid any impact from the introduction of VLP WAS/RLAN in relation to the deployment of 6G in Europe in the upper 6GHz as the primary band (including e.g. potential enforcement challenges).

Deliverable ECC Report
Responsible group WG FM - FM61
Start date 01-04-2027
Target date 28-02-2029
Public Consultation 31-10-2028
Permanent Work Item False
Comments
A baseline principle for the Report is that Country Determination Capability will be mandatory. The Report should not be limited to LBT coexistence mechanisms but should also consider other sharing mechanisms, e.g. database solutions either in combination with LBT or as an alternative to LBT.
“The RSPG is of the opinion that the upper 6 GHz band will be the primary band
suitable for the introduction of 6G in Europe by 2030.” (RSPG26-013)
